I kept putting off trying this essence for way longer than I should have. Snail mucin has been talked about in Korean skincare for years at this point, and every time I saw someone rave about the COSRX version specifically, I kind of rolled my eyes a little. Snail slime on my face, sure, why not.
Then my skin went through a rough patch — dry, flaky in some spots, a bit irritated from switching up my routine too fast — and someone recommended this as something gentle to fall back on. So I picked up a bottle mostly out of desperation more than curiosity.

First impression when I opened it: it's thicker than I expected. Not runny like a toner, but not a thick cream either — somewhere in between, and a little slippery when you rub it between your fingers. That texture threw me off at first because it felt almost tacky going on, like it wasn't fully absorbing right away.
I stuck with it anyway because that's usually just how mucin-based stuff behaves, and I was right — give it a minute or so and it settles in fine. If you go in expecting it to disappear instantly like a lightweight serum, you'll be disappointed. It needs a bit of patience.
What actually changed for me over about three weeks of using it morning and night: the flaky patches on my cheeks calmed down noticeably faster than they usually do on their own. I'm not going to pretend it was some overnight miracle, because it wasn't, but by the end of week one my skin felt less tight when I woke up, and by week two the rough texture I'd been dealing with had mostly evened out.

The one thing I'll warn people about a little goes a long way. I over-applied for the first few days because I assumed more product meant faster results, and all that got me was a slightly sticky face for longer than necessary. One pump, maybe two if you're doing your whole face and neck, is genuinely enough.
It layered fine under my moisturizer and didn't mess with makeup the next morning, which mattered to me since I'd had bad experiences with other "hydrating" products pilling under foundation before.
Would I tell someone with oily or acne-prone skin to run out and buy this? Honestly, maybe patch test it first. It's not heavy exactly, but if your skin already struggles with anything sitting on the surface, the slight tackiness might not be your thing. For dry, sensitive, or just generally stressed-out skin though, I think it earns the hype it gets.
I've already started my second bottle, if that tells you anything.
